ARTISTIC SPECTACLE: Lanre Tonato- (B' Beautiful Makeup) / Face of Broadwayz of the week

This week on our ‘Artistic Spectacle’ is Lanre Tonato who’s got this inner passion for her job. Lanre Tonato is an architect and a makeup artist. Just like architecture, she sees the after image of her client’s before carrying out the beauty work on them. She is also the CEO of B’Beautiful Makeup where she renders professional make-up services for individuals and corporate organizations.

BROADWAYZ: Can you tell us about your background/what was your growing up like?

B'BEAUTIFUL: I am the last child of 4 children. I am an architect who found a way of expressing herself in the makeup industry. I am a self-trained makeup artist. But latter brushed up for a 2weeks course.

Growing up: I have always found myself getting involved in lots of creative things like mat weaving hair making, greeting card design, tie & dye, and art related things. I noticed makeup come when I want to try up some looks I've seen in the magazines and the faces of my older ones. But I always got lots of scolding for it from my mum because she says I was too young to wear makeup (I used her kits then though). But my creative mind and desire to learn brought me to where I am today.

BROADWAYZ:  So, how did your background impact all you are doing today?

B’BEAUTIFUL: I am someone who always wants to help in any way I can and also put smile on peoples’ faces because when I do such it make me happy myself. I've done quite a number of free services in the past for friends and family just because they say they can't afford a MUA and I'm one, and I know the importance of that special day and I offered to do it for free. I put smiles on their faces and I'm happy.

BROADWAYZ: What are the services you render?

B’BEAUTIFUL: Bridal makeup, Special occasion, Fashion makeup, Runway, Photo shoot, Gele tying (head gear), Special effect, Bridal engagement gift packaging, Training and Event planning.

BROADWAYZ:  In detail, can you tell us what led you into the art of make-up?

B’BEAUTIFUL: I've always been an aesthetically inclined person, particularly with my background in Architecture, hence, my natural inclination towards Make-up, which is another avenue for me to project beauty.

BROADWAYZ: How long have you been into make-up?

B’BEAUTIFUL: I have been into the business of make-up for about 10 years, however, I've been in it professionally for 3years.

BROADWAYZ: Is/are there any notable job(s) you’ll like to share with us?

B’BEAUTIFUL: Am Black and Beautiful pageant, CITY people magazine 8th Annual awards ceremony.

SOME OF MY (B'Beautiful)WORKS:

BROADWAYZ: What's your source of inspiration as a make-up artist?

B’BEAUTIFUL: God.

BROADWAYZ: While rendering your service, what do you look-out to achieve?

B’BEAUTIFUL: Client satisfaction. What comes to mind 1st is how I can enhance my client's beauty, as well make them feel comfortable and happy with the look they turned out to have?

BROADWAYZ: As a make-up artist, how do you achieve/measure creativity in your works?

B’BEAUTIFUL:  I am not a one product person so, I use the product that gives me the desired look and my ability to manage the looks of individual clients notwithstanding their varying facial structure. Keep in mind that handling some clients particularly those with certain facial structure can be quite challenging.

BROADWAYZ: Would you mind sharing your best and lowest moment in this profession with us?

B’BEAUTIFUL: I don't think I have a greatest moment yet because I learn more and meet people with each job. But I think I liked the moment at the "Am Black And Beautiful" programme, where, as an unknown Artiste all my Models came tops in the contest.

LOWEST MOMENT- My 1st make-up work as a professional. The client left the dressing room unsatisfied, contrary to my objective. Though latter commend me at the reception when I went to touch her up because she said her husband liked it.

BROADWAYZ: Can you highlight some of your challenges and how you overcame them?

B’BEAUTIFUL: My challenges at the beginning were getting tools and product. I had to buy everything needed for each job with the money paid and I was usually left with little or nothing. Now that my box is full and well equipped I face the challenge of carrying it about most especially long distances. And I'm not mobile #whew#

BROADWAYZ: What will it take an upcoming make-up artist to get to your stage?

B’BEAUTIFUL: Commitment, Constant Practice, Focus, patience, neatness and the inspiration from God.

BROADWAYZ: How does it feel being an inspiration to people now?

B’BEAUTIFUL: I feel so honored that God chose me and gave me this gift to be a blessing to people and I submit myself totally to him to use me more.

BROADWAYZ:  What is your most important lesson you have ever learnt in life?

B’BEAUTIFUL: I've learnt to be Patience enough to wait for God's time and to be humble and respect people big or small.

BROADWAYZ: Any advice for those reading this?

B’BEAUTIFUL: Have a heart of service, be self confident, be humble, focused and determine to reach greater height. Above all connect to God for leading.

BROADWAYZ: Would you mind to share your contact details here and now for those out there that have intention(s) of reaching you?
